Ms. Carrie Myrick was a devoted, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother aunt and friend to many and had a positive impact on everyone. My mom has struggled with addiction for over 25 years leaving her immediate family to fend for themselves at times. Although her addiction was an issue she always remained humble and kept her doors open to those in need. by providing housing, meals and other helpful resources for those struggling with addiction as well. Growing up, Carrie's place was the place to be for a delicious meal, family gatherings, fun times and to hear the word! Many people relied on her for companionship, compassion and to just to feel loved. Carrie's place was also the place where grandchildren, nieces, nephews and local children would come if their parents needed a break or had to work. She utilized this time to provide encouraging words to the parents and empowered young women to leave the lifestyle of being on the streets, whether it was from drugs, alcohol or prostitution. It surely was an memorable experience for all!
In the early months of 2013, Carries decided enough is enough and gave up drugs for good! She dedicated the rest of her life to rebuilding her family, gain a deeper spiritual religious relationship and remaining sober. Carrie Mae Myrick departed this life on the evening of March 4, 2017 at the young age of 53 years old. She left behind a legacy to love people and help others to make the world a better place.
